MSR Folding Utensils Review

The new and improved version of the MSR Folding Utensils are awesome! Generally I dislike folding utensils – nothing is more annoying than having your spoon collapse when you have a bite of soup halfway to your mouth.  With the new version of their Folding Utensils MSR fixed this problem by beefing up the locking mechanism with their “pinch-to-fold” technology.  This has produced my new go to fork and spoon combo for eating in the backcountry.

Other than just being collapsible for easy packing into your cook kit the MSR folding utensils are BPA free, super lightweight and (when un-folded) long enough to reach into the bottom of your freeze-dried meal by to get that last bite of beef stew. Personally, I prefer bringing a fork and spoon with me but for those of you who like the abomination they call the spork MSR makes a folding spork as well.

Demonstrating MSR's "pinch-to-lock" technology. It works surprisingly well to create a very solid feeling utensil.

Conclusion:

MSR’s Folding Utensils are the best backcountry silverware I’ve used.
