Outdoor Research Radar Rain Cap

Outdoor Research Helium Radar Rain Cap Review

I was recently shown the Outdoor Research Helium Radar Rain Cap and was immediately intrigued. The Helium line by Outdoor Research is their best selling rain gear line and includes my favorite rain shell – the Helium II – so the addition of a cool hat using similar technology got me excited. Need a super lightweight, crushable and rainproof hat? Check out the Radar Rain Cap.

I’ve always been a hat guy – I even wrote a post about my love of trucker hats in the backcountry – so any new hat I see always catches my attention. Outdoor Research crammed a ton of features into the Radar Rain Cap. Its waterproof, crushable, super lightweight (only 0.5 oz.), its adjustable and has a wicking headband. In particular, the wicking headband, is the stand out feature in my opinion. There are lots of hats out there made out of waterproof materials but rarely do I find that they have a “sweatband” built in. Keeping sweat out of my eyes is one of the primary reasons I wear a hat so this feature is key for me.
