Outdoor Research Salvo Jacket Review
October 22, 2013
The Outdoor Research Salvo jacket is a lightweight soft shell made out of Gore Windstopper. I took this jacket up Mt. Rainier during my most recent summit bid along with the Outdoor Research Salvo pants. Just like with the pants I was looking for a thin jacket that would block the wind and keep me dry but not make me over heat. I couldn’t ask for a better jacket.
It kept me dry and blocked the wind. It’s also the perfect cut to allow a light insulation layer to be worn underneath (I used The North Face Verto Micro Hoody) for just the right amount of warmth. I have been wearing this jacket everywhere lately – from backcountry skiing trips to around town.
Conclusion:
The Outdoor Research Salvo is a great jacket and my go to pick when I want to wear a soft shell.
