Outdoor Research Salvo Pants Review
October 22, 2013
The Outdoor Research Salvo pants are a lightweight soft shell made out of Gore Windstopper. To test these pants I wore them during a recent summit of Mt. Rainier and they preformed beautifully. I was looking for a thin pant that would block the wind and keep me dry but not make me over heat – these were great.
They were durable enough to stand up to several unfortunate encounters with my crampon spikes without any visible wear, fit under a climbing harness easily, have a nice amount of pockets, convenient waist adjustment straps, articulated knees and a nice slim cut. The only drawback I can find is that they are too narrow at the cuff to fit over a ski boot.
They kept my body temperature regulated perfectly during an early August summit of Mt. Rainier where we saw more than our expected share of weather.
